THIS AMAZING MIX OF HABITATS SUPPORTS MYRIAD
RARE SPECIES, MANY ENDEMIC TO ETHIOPIA AND
SOME FOUND ONLY WITHIN THIS NATIONAL PARK.
The landscape of the northern Gaysay section comprises a central broad flat valley with an altitude ranging from 3000 to 3550m above sea level. The southern ridge of the Gaysay area, which is relatively dry, is mainly covered with Juniper forest, a nationally protected species, whilst the relatively wet northern ridge is largely covered with Hagenia Abyssinica (African redwood trees) and Hypericum Revolutum (the yellow flowering Curry Bush). The flat valleys of Gaysay are fabulous for game watching with great opportunities to see the rare, endemic, Mountain Nyala and Menelik's Bushbuck, alongside Serval Cats and Wild Pigs.
